What a week!
I’m not one for “blowing my own trumpet” (even though I wanted to be an elephant when I was 5), but winning the Captain’s Table was an exceptional milestone for PsyFyi. It not only validates what we’re doing from the business proposition point of view, but it also validates the need for our product and service within the industry. Challenging the status quo within an established company is difficult – doing so as a scale-up is near impossible. Or so we thought....!
So, how did we end up on stage in Hong Kong, pitching to over 2,000 people? Well, firstly, it nearly didn’t happen, as luck would have it, our COO Satu spotted a post on LinkedIn that was advertising the competition. We had 3 weeks to put together our offering, including a pitch deck and a 1-minute video (which took 3.5 hours to make) courtesy of the amazing Veronika Cernakova at MVision.
The 45-minute interview with the Captain’s Table team went terribly (so we thought –but I suspect the amazing slides made by Elisa Hauhia at Kaisla Consulting sealed the deal!), and the agonising wait to hear whether we had been selected came to an abrupt end a few weeks later when we received an email saying we had been selected! Fast forward to mid-November, and here we are, a finalist and the winner of the Captain’s Table 2024.
So, what’s next?? Previous winners have gone on to build successful businesses both within and outside of maritime. Winning has cemented our belief that we have a valuable product. And more importantly – that the industry is welcoming seafarer-focused solutions. Your crew are your asset!
What’s next looks much brighter than it ever has, but it will be in line with everything we have been doing for 3 years. We work methodically and we listen. We build value with our clients equally. Our team is committed and prepared for success. We are here for the long term, and we will continue to work with partners who understand the value of their seafarers.
Full steam ahead for 2025!
